Covid Screening/Regulations

SMMS has adopted the following safety procedures for the 2021 season for the protection of players, families, coaches and referees. We will continue to follow the direction provided by the Huron-Perth District Health Unit, Ontario Soccer and the Town of St. Marys. We will make any adjustments to these guidelines a needed.
Self - Assessment: All players, spectators, coaches, and referees are expected to self-assess prior to practices
and games using the link below. If in doubt, please stay home - Any player, coach, spectator or referee diagnosed with COVID-19 or who has been in contact with any person diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past two weeks is not to attend any SMMS event. Any player, coach, spectator or referee diagnosed with COVID-19 must be cleared by appropriate medical personnel or the local health unit prior to attending any SMMS events. Coaches must indicate on the attendance page each player in attendance has completed the self assessment.
SMMS asks that players are accompanied by one adult. Our main priority is getting the players on the fields. If additional spectators can be added in accordance with government guidelines teams will be notified.
No Touch: This includes all physical contact such as pre/post game handshakes or hi-5s. Spectators are asked to not retrieve the ball when it is out of play. Players and coaches should be the only ones touching team equipment.
Social Distancing: Players, coaches, spectators and referees are asked to arrive at the fields and surrounding areas no more than 15 minutes before practices and games. All players, coaches, spectators and referees are asked to leave the fields and surrounding area immediately after practices and games. Players, coaches, spectators and referees are asked to social distance (2 metres) whenever possible.
Hand Sanitizing: All players, coaches, spectators and referees are asked to sanitizer their hands before entering the practice/game area. Parents of our younger players must ensure their children have sanitized their hands. It is recommended that players, coaches, spectators and referees sanitize when they return to their vehicles/homes.
Hand sanitizer should be used after coughing, sneezing or touching shared equipment.  Hand sanitizer is provided in each team bag.
Masks: Players, coaches, spectators and referees should bring a mask to all practices and games. Masks should be worn when any first aid is given.
Water Bottles and Snacks: Individual water bottles provided by parents or guardians are acceptable. Please stress the importance of labelling your water bottle and keeping your water bottle in a safe location(in your backpack, with parents of younger players, away from other player’s water bottles) to players.
Snacks including popsicles and freezies are not permitted at soccer practices and games this year. No food is permitted in the field area.
We look forward to seeing everyone!  St. Marys and Area Minor Soccer
